Woke up to the sad news of the death of one of Rock’s greatest voices this morning. Chris Cornell frontman of Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave as well as a solo performer in his own right, died suddenly and unexpectedly last night.
As a frontrunner in the 90’s grunge scene, Cornell’s gravelly melancholic vocals became the voice of a generation and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who had posters of him plastered over my walls.
I had the honour of meeting him once when my husband was working with Audioslave, and he came across as a very gentle, humorous soul.
So let’s take the time to remember one of his most iconic songs, Black Hole Sun. I defy you not to shed a tear.Advertisements
